The LIVE LEBANON launch in Beirut on November 12, 2009 at the Old Dome of the Beirut City Center. As part of the launch a Video Exhibition was presented showing images from the different regions where LIVE LEBANON will undertake its preliminary phase of activity.
During the ceremony Ms. Marta Ruedas, Resident Representative of UNDP, welcomed the invitees and spoke a few words on this new UNDP initiative. Furthermore, Ms. Ruedas introduced the appointment of Mr. Ghaleb Farha as Regional Goodwill Ambassador for LIVE LEBANON. Ambassador Farha is a well accomplished Lebanese expatriate whose dedication for local development in Lebanon is a significant asset for this UNDP initiative.
Introducing the special website developed for LIVE LEBANON, Ms. Ruedas guided the audience on the process by which contributions from around the world will be managed. Ms. Ruedas commended the commitment partners, supporters, and donors have shown for LIVE LEBANON to reach its intended objectives. Specifically, Ms. Ruedas thanked the national governmental counterpart the Directorate General of Emigrants of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrant, represented by the Director General Mr. Haytham Jomaa.
November 13, the Video Exhibition will be open to the public from 6 - 9 pm. The UNDP welcomes the general public to the event taking place at the Old Dome of the Beirut City Center.
